JAZZ, BLUES and SWING Artist Lulu LaFever is writing the songs that will be the cover tunes of future generations...

Check out Lulu's new singles "Coming Back Around" on cdbaby.com -  Duo with Jon Lindahl. The soulful style of Lulu LaFever once again shines in these tunes about love... no matter the style of music Lulu writes, her lyrics take you far away from the world and back to the place you thought was lost in yourself...  Lulu LaFever Grammy Member delivers Sultry Blues, smoother than black velvet jazz and juke joint swing...incredible talent and originality. Lulu's big personality has been involving and entertaining audiences for over 15 years. She lives up to every expectation of a performer named Lulu LaFever...In 1994 Lulu received a grant from the Oregon Arts Commission for her talent as a songwriter and singer. She began work on her first CD and left her career as a registered nurse to pursue her dream...to show off and share her music with the world. Six CD's and over 15 years of touring later it proved to be the right move. As Lulu always says "Life is soooo good! Don't just take the scenic route, be the scenic route." Lulu has been compared to Ella Fitzgerald, Bette Midler, Cindy Lauper and Bonnie Raitt, but she most definitely has a style all her own. As a songwriter and composer Lulu creates new boundaries in the world of music. Lulu and her band "Lulu LaFever and the Hot Tamales" has had the honor of opening for Willie Nelson and Big Bad VooDoo Daddy. Whether solo or with her band Lulu is what the world needs...A Good Time!

WHAT'S THE BUZZ ABOUT LULU?

"Lulu was incredible.  She was extremely easy to work with and went above and beyond in entertaining our noon time audience and was an absolute hit at our Casino Night.  Her music is original, refreshing with a uniqueness to it that all enjoyed.  She was able to connect with an audience that was very diverse.  We are anxious to have her back next year at our Welcome Back Casino Night for our students." Joel Zarr - Director College Center and Auxiliary Services - Pueblo Community College - Pueblo, CO...

"The students loved Lulu at our Valentine event. She sang love songs about all kinds of love, including about her dog and cat. We can't wait to have her back." Stacy Sanchez - University of Texas Pan American - Edinburg, TX...

"Lulu put on a great show! It was a great time to listen to a great voice sing some blues. Thanks Lulu!" Patty Swanson - Le Tourneau University - Longview, TX...

"We all enjoyed your music, and it really helped enhance the event. Lulu is a great musician, and gave us a wonderful show." Michael Chaney - Texas Wesleyan University - Fort Worth, TX...

"Thank You!! It was a pleasure having you as a part of our summer concert Series!!" Walt and Beth Houser - Bethany Vineyard - Ridgefield, WA...

"Concluding the Kent Summer Concert Series would seemingly be no easy task. However Lulu LaFever brought the presence & voice to fill Lake Meridian Park with daydream melodies of love and life. Her soulful and personal touch upon each and every song concluded the summer on a wonderful high note. It is said that her performance is often compared to such legends as Ella Fitzgerald and Bonnie Raitt, but Lulu LaFever's performance is one of a kind and one that is unlikely to be forgotten by those who attended." Justin Platts - Special Events Assistant - Kent, WA...

"We welcomed Lulu LaFever to the City of Everett's Sunday waterfront concert in August. Lulu's CD's are great, but they don't hold a candle to how delightful she is live in concert. She has a gorgeous voice and a seemingly endless stream of good, old fashioned, yet original songs. But what's more, she is also funny and charming. She tells little stories about her songs, fully engages the audience, and obviously has such a darn good time up on stage and it's contagious!" Mary Cutler, Cultural Arts Coordinator, City of Everett Washington...

"Lulu LaFever put on an excellent show and was a perfect fit for our Jazz Under the Stars program. Her energy and beautiful melodies soothed the audience as well as excited them. I definitely recommend Lulu LaFever for college campuses across the country. If you want to put on a great program, call Lulu" Neal Spradlin -Austin College - Sherman, TX...

"It was a pleasure to have Lulu LaFever play the historic Eureka Opera House once again. That smokey voice mingled with all of the old greats who haunt this place. Lulu mesmerized her admirers with blues and love seeping from every pore of her being. No matter what the song or poem Lulu moves her listeners to places they haven't been for a long time, and maybe have never been before." Wally Cuchine - Director - Eureka Opera House - Eureka, NV...

"We couldn't have had a more wonderful night, filled with the sultry voice and melodic moods of Lulu LaFever in the Maintenance Shop. Lulu filled the Maintenance Shop venue with her songs of truth and the power of passion and love. All in attendance were dazzled by her ability to draw them into her world of past heartache and future desire. She was such a treat to have come and perform for us in our intimate venue that seemed to only ignite more passion from the crowd. One of the easiest and most pleasant artists I have had the pleasure of working with in my meager nine years of booking talent - perfect for a night of relaxed entertainment that sooths the soul and excites the heart. She has set the new standard of what I wish for when we book an artist. We will definitely be bringing her back to tell us more tales of found and unrequited love and are excited to see what she comes out with next. So if you get the chance to see her live or even just have a brief interlude, don't pass it up because opportunities like this are fleeting and you don't want to be caught wanting!" Steven D. Satterlee - Coordinator of Entertainment Programs - Iowa State University - Ames, Iowa...

"Her vocals are stunning, Lulu's warmth & energy had the crowd eating out of her hand in no time flat!" Roberta Lavadour - Pendleton Center for the Arts - Pendleton Oregon...

"Lulu has an amazing ability to bring everything to life" Leah Eaton - Saint Martin University - Lacey Washington...

"Students melt into the scene painted through the words Lulu weaves. She encourages resonance with others as she envelopes students lives in her stories, and brings moments of respite in between the numerous pages of study. Thank you for allowing us to disappear into her world for a while..." Deb Unruh - Texas Womans University - Houston Texas...

"The crowd enjoyed interacting with her and she knows how to work the room" Shelly Loomer - Johnson & Wales University - Denver Colorado...

The Tao of Lulu...
Calling all hopeless romantics...the one thing we all have in common is that we will fall in and out of love...even with ourselves. There really is an artist's light in everyone and everyone has a story...As soon as we get over the rules of what our culture mandates we find a culture and a voice of our own. That restless feeling inside is the artist in all of us trying to emerge. Lulu thinks that the really restless people in the world including kids must have some amazing art trying to get out. Her songs are the stories of the people she has met on the road...They have changed how she looks at the world. It is not them and us...It is in fact, all of us.

"A Little Night Music"...There's a Juke joint down by the river, just off Highway 99… The jazz is sizzling…It's Friday night, and you and your baby arrive to make “A Little Night Music” of your own…

A Little Night Music”
Produced by Bernie Dresel and Lulu LaFever
Engineered by Les Brockmann
recorded at Entourage 5.1 and The Greene Room in Los Angeles, California
Bernie Dresel on drums and percussion
Carl Verheyen on guitars
Alan Steinberger on Piano
Rick Shaw on standup bass
Lulu LaFever delivering steamy vocals

When Bernie Dresel took on the task of masterminding this CD his vision took Lulu’s desire for a sultry, old school jazz CD to the moon and back. There was a whole lot of grinning going on as the tracks were recorded. Every one of the musicians took on the role of mastering the art of romance. Lulu’s original music came alive and as Bernie put it she sang her ass off… The posse rounded up by Bernie are masters in every way. Les Brockmann’s engineering got it all just right. The result…a lovefest…a magnificent bacon sizzling, hip grinding, down by the river juke joint jazz feel… In the mood? Get this CD!
